Methodist Church Projects 2013
East Finchley Methodist Church and Finchley Methodist Church have given grants and individual gifts of £1100 since September 2012. These were taken out to Ghana and two Gift Presentations were made during the 2013 trip.
Founded in 2005 the purpose built village looks after 50+ young people providing accommodation and education. We heard about some of the challenging backgrounds the young people had come from and the difference this community was making to their lives.
A substantial gift of food supplies for the community was well received by the Director of the Village.
The spacious and tranquil grounds.
This city of 350,000 lies in northern Ghana and an area with a majority Muslim presence. There are good community relations between the faiths and the churches are very active in outreach and mission.
The northern part of Ghana is poor and suffers from a lack of resources.
At the service on Monday 14th January at Tamale Methodist Cathedral a gift of a motorbike was presented to the Bishop for use in the Diocese’s mission. The service was led by an amazing choir, Wesley hymns have never sounded better.
The gift of a motorbike will be very useful.
During our time there we visited an ancient slave camp on the Burkino Faso border and heard about the development of a newly built hospital in Tamale where the Director is a Methodist.
The Methodist Chiurch in Tamale needs our prayers and support as they face huge mission challenges and opportunities.
